MY FATHER, MY HERO

When I was but a child
Just a little over three
You'd scare away the monsters
That always frightened me
As I grew a little older
Around the age of ten
You handed me a fishing pole
The fun was about to begin
Then the terrible happened
I turned into a teen
Disobedience erupted
I didn't know my dreams
I know you became frightened
Had no idea where to start
You found the words of wisdom
"Baby, follow your heart."
Times have changed
We've all grown
New lives we now explore
I'm a mother and you're a grandpa
But, you'll be my hero forevermore.
