HEARTS & LIES

She sits there, so frightened, so frail
Yet to think, no one cares
She's a young woman
Stuck in her memories
Of a childhood no longer
A love thought as given
From parent to child,
Discovered - built on lies.

Adult now is she
Generations begun
Still stuck in her memories
Of a childhood gone wrong
Slowly, she's learning
Through the eyes of a babe
The power of loving
And, lovingly, she gave.

The repair of a heart in that of a child
Takes the ingredients of patience
And, a love unsoiled.
Yet, remaining forever,
Are scars - built on lies.
